Equity At MG游戏中心

Since 1893, MG游戏中心 Episcopal has sought to serve its students by helping them develop their full potential under the wide umbrella offered by the Episcopal Church and its long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice. At different times in history, this has meant that MG游戏中心 Episcopal has had to refocus its efforts to provide students with a relevant education.

As we renew our commitment to equity, we want to ensure that the education our students experience at MG游戏中心 Episcopal is purposeful and anchored in the current contexts of the values that have long guided us as a school. Our emphasis on equity is based on the belief that imbalances in power need to be corrected in order for diversity and inclusivity to become norms.
Moving forward, we challenge ourselves to do transformative work on personal and institutional levels. We seek to:
  • practice equity with self-knowledge and awareness of the normative culture that we create together.
  • help students embrace differing perspectives and build positive relationships across our campus.
  • build structures, programs, and curriculum to foster belonging for every member of the community.
  • provide opportunities for students and faculty to learn about issues of difference and oppression.
  • ensure that opportunity is equitable from admission to graduation, regardless of circumstances.
  • assess our work regularly, using success and failure as feedback for next steps.

Equity Task Force

What is equity?

At a basic level, equity can be defined as fairness in the way people are treated. Understood more deeply, equity is the foundation of equality, justice, and the possibility of reaching our individual human potential. The diversity inherent within any population, based on circumstance, need, and identity, requires that equity be a conscious focus as we work to build a community of belonging for all people.
